Mike is a top rated Oregon personal injury attorney by former clients and legal peers.

Portland personal injury attorney chosen super lawyers by peers in law for over ten consecutive years

Mike Colbach represented me in a lawsuit against a contractor who had severely injured me [...] His team dealt with the insurance companies and gave me tremendous peace of mind as I recovered so I could concentrate of just getting better. Through the deposition process, Mike fought hard to defend my interests and through the mediation process, Mike negotiated ferociously to secure the best possible settlement for me and my family. I would highly recommend Mike Colbach to anyone in need of a Personal Injury Attorney. Every victim needs an advocate like Mike in their corner.-->More

Before you hire a Salem personal injury lawyer, make sure that they are willing to forward the money to adequately pursue your personal injury case.

Court filing fees, expert witnesses and other litigation costs are expensive.

If I take a case, I believe in it.

I carry a small case load. I make sure I have time to devote to every case and I make a point of staying on top of all of my cases to make sure they are headed in the right direction. I start preparing your case for trial from the day it comes through the door until the day it settles or goes to trial. This is a lot of work, but the only way to make sure you get the most for your personal injury claim.

I will invest as much time, energy, and money as it takes to make sure my client has a good result.

Every year I spend thousands of dollars in litigation costs.

In every case, I advance all the costs associated with pursuing your case and I do not ask you for a penny until you recover from the other side.

I handle all personal injury cases on a contingency basis.

What this means is that I charge a percentage of your monetary recovery.

If I take your case, you do not pay anything up front.

If there is no recovery there is no attorney fee.

Not all personal injury lawyers charge the same lawyer fees.

Make sure you understand what your personal injury attorney will be charging you and how they base these fees on your settlement as this can really make a huge difference to you.

The Value of Experience

I have handled many hundreds of Oregon personal injury cases and I have seen the offers that some of my clients received before hiring me.

In virtually every case, I have significantly increased the amount that ended up in my client's pocket.

I will tell you what I think about your case from your initial consultation throughout the process.

Due to my trial results, I believe that insurance companies consistently offer my clients higher settlement amounts than they do to other Oregon personal injury lawyers who either lack experience or are afraid to go to trial or have just not had my success at trial.

2 years ago I was involved in an accident while commuting home from work on my bicycle. [...] I was left unconscious in the road for over 3 hours until my wife came looking for me. She found me unconscious, laying in a pool of blood and vomit with my helmet cracked from impact. I was left with a TBI, fractured hand and multiple contusions and lacerations that required immediate care. I suffered memory, speech, vision and auditory impairment that continues today. -->More

Some of these trials and verdicts were reported on by the Portland media:

Recently I had Mike Colbach represent my wife in an auto accident [...] Because of the accident my wife was in the ICU at OHSU and wasn't able to talk so I worked with him. Right away Mike took control and told me to concentrate on taking care of my wife and he would handle all the insurance issues, court filings, hospital bills etc. Also, Mike was not one bit intimidated by one of the largest auto insurance companies in the country and in fact looked forward to the challenge of meeting them in court.......I guess they didn't like the odds and settled out of court for the full amount he demanded. -->More

The right Oregon personal injury lawyer can make the difference between being financially devastated and being able to take care of your family's future.

Insurance companies do not give money away.

The only way to get fair compensation for your injuries is to force them to pay you.

The only thing that makes insurance companies pay is the threat of a big jury verdict.

If you want to get a fair amount, you need an Oregon personal injury lawyer who is not afraid to go to trial to get you what you deserve.

Many personal injury lawyers advertise themselves as being aggressive and fighting for their clients.

Ask them what their last trial was and ask them what their recent jury verdicts were.

If a personal injury lawyer doesn't actively file and try cases, keep on looking for a personal injury lawyer for your case who does, as you will rarely get a fair recovery amount with an attorney who is just working for a settlement.

Hiring a trial lawyer is the only way to make sure you get a fair amount for your personal injury case.

I file a lawsuit in most of my cases, as that is what gets insurance companies to pay, and if they don't make a fair enough offer you can take your case to a jury.

Unfortunately, the Oregon State Bar does not police lawyers to make sure that if you advertise yourself as an Oregon trial attorney that you really try cases.

Salem and Portland are a small towns and a smaller legal community. Insurance companies know who the Oregon personal injury attorneys are who are also trial attorneys.

Insurance companies tend to pay the clients of known Oregon trial attorneys better than clients of attorneys who tend to not go to trial.

Pursuing your personal injury case will not take a lot of your time.

I know your time is valuable and I won't waste it.

If you do have to go to court, it will take more time.

The vast majority of personal injury cases don't go to trial.

However, I treat each case as if it is going to be a trial, as you have to be willing to go to trial to maximize your settlement.

Although my law office is in Portland, Salem is very close. I usually only have to meet with clients for the initial interview and we can just talk over the phone, email and even zoom. I can come to you if necessary, whatever is needed, I can make accommodations to fit your needs.

Questions? Get Answers.

I make it a point to keep on top of my email.

This process can be stressful.

I am always available to help and get you answers and my excellent legal assistant and office team are also always available to help.

I selected Michael Colbach based on his personal attention to my case. When you work with him, you speak DIRECTLY to him, no answering machines, no messages to a sectary or other associates. His office staff are extremely professional, and communicate in a timely matter. Mike is upfront with your expectations on your settlement, the real timeline, when and what to expect... and goes beyond any other attorney would do for you. His fee was less than any other, and I received MORE than any other attorney would have gotten me. -->More

PRACTICE AREAS

Bicycle Accident Lawyer

Hire an attorney who is also a cyclist. I raced for the Presto Velo team, which is now the BicycleAttorney.com cycling team and I am their main cash sponsor.

Motorcycle Accident Lawyer

Hire an Oregon motorcycle accident lawyer who rides. Proud to be affiliated with Oregon's Andy DiBrino pro-motorcycle racer of all types. Andy and I grew up in the same kneck of these Oregon woods.

Boating Attorney

I hold a United States Coast Guard Captain's 100 Ton License and have fished both commercially and for sport. 40 years on the water and professional training as a captain give me a leg up over most lawyers.

Pedestrian Accident

Expert personal injury attorney when it comes to pedestrians hit by cars while walking or crossing streets in or not in a crosswalk. Even if you were not in a crosswalk when you were hit by a car as a pedestrian, in Oregon, there is an implied crosswalk at every corner with a stop sign.

There is a lot of fun to be had in Salem, and many Oregon traditions.

And you can tour and visit the capitol. Check the schedule for events that happen at the state capitol park too.

40 years of running, this is a fun ride through Salem, Keizer and into more rural parts of Marion County, fully supported with two route options one about 65 miles and other about 35 miles. Routes vary year to year.

Salem Speedway Indoor Flat Track Motorcycle Racing

Some national flat track super stars have come from this track like Andy DiBrino (who I am proud to be affiliated with as a local sponsor, the Oregon Motorcycle Attorney on his van), Sammy Halbert, Jeffrey Carver and Davis Fisher.

Salem Iris Garden

Bloom season event in May each year.

Salem, Oregon State Fair

Two big weeks, entertainment, livestock, horse shows. But the Oregon Expo buildings of the state fair grounds have events that go year round.
